CLB 6
CLB 6 is solid intermediate English. For CELPIP it corresponds to a CELPIP level 6. Many Provincial Nominee streams and programs use it as a floor.
CELPIP equivalent: CLB 6 = CELPIP level 6 in each ability.
What this level means
- You can follow most everyday and routine workplace communication.
- You understand the gist and most details of clear spoken and written material.
- You can write coherent paragraphs with a clear main idea and support.
What it unlocks
- Many Provincial Nominee Program streams (varies by province).
- Foundational for moving toward the CLB 7 Express Entry minimum.
How to reach it
- Read longer passages daily and summarize them in your own words.
- Practise the CELPIP Reading and Listening parts to build speed plus accuracy.
- For Writing, aim for clear structure: intro, two supporting points, closing.
Practise toward CLB 6
The fastest way to a higher CLB is realistic, timed practice. Take a full Mock to baseline all four skills, then drill your weakest part.
